What three Hawaii websites did in search this month

Where these numbers come from

These come out of Google Search Console for three websites we run every day. We set the last 28 full days, 2026-10-09 to 2026-11-05, against the 28 days before, 2026-09-11 to 2026-10-08. Twenty-eight days is four full weeks, so a quiet Sunday is weighed against a quiet Sunday.

The three numbers are simple. Google counts an impression each time a link to the site appears in someone's results, a click when the person actually comes through to the site, and position as the average place in those results, where lower is better.

No business is named. One is a Hawaii beverage brand that sells its drink mix on Shopify, one is an Oahu fishing charter, one is a Honolulu office technology dealer. Here is the period against the one before it:

Site Clicks Impressions Average position
Hawaii beverage brand 593, down 5 percent 51,621, up 9 percent 6.6, from 6.7
Oahu fishing charter 207, down 13 percent 14,073, down 31 percent 8.0, from 7.6
Honolulu office technology dealer 254, down 2 percent 8,501, down 10 percent 16.1, from 14.2

Three different businesses, three different movements, and none of the three means what it seems to at first glance. The guides that explain these terms stop at the definitions. The numbers only start saying something when you watch one site month after month.

The beverage brand is seen more and clicked a little less

The beverage brand took 593 clicks against 624 in the prior 28 days, down 5 percent, while impressions rose 9 percent to 51,621. Average position held, 6.7 to 6.6.

The longer view is the story. In November 2025 this site took 36 clicks on 1,784 impressions. In October 2026, the last full month, it took 646 clicks on 53,467 impressions, about 18 times the clicks and 30 times the impressions of a year before.

The climb did not happen in one motion. Impressions jumped in March 2026, to 17,736 from 4,683 the month before, but monthly clicks stayed between 36 and 56 until June. Being seen came first, and being chosen took three more months of work on titles and descriptions.

When impressions rise and clicks sag at the same time, the listing is being shown more and picked less. We wrote about what that gap means and what closes it when it happened to the charter in September.

The charter dropped, and it does this every fall

The charter took 207 clicks against 239, down 13 percent, and impressions fell 31 percent, from 20,252 to 14,073. On its own that looks like trouble.

The monthly line says otherwise. Impressions rose from 4,057 last November to a peak of 28,634 in September, then came down to 16,016 in October. Fewer people search for a fishing trip in the fall, and the line follows them.

The honest comparison for a seasonal business is the same season a year ago, not last month. Last November this site took 170 clicks on 4,057 impressions; last month it took 246 clicks on 16,016 impressions. Ahead of where it stood a year ago, on both counts, in the same part of the season.

The dealer held its clicks while its position number grew

The office technology dealer took 254 clicks against 259, down 2 percent. Its monthly clicks have run in a band from 224 to 291 every month since February 2026. Steady, not falling.

Its average position moved from 14.2 to 16.1, which reads like a slide. It often is not. Google averages position across every query the site appeared for, so when a site starts appearing for new searches far down in the results, the average moves backward even though no page people were already finding lost ground.

Still, an average position of 16.1 is a long way back, and it is a different job from the beverage brand's 6.6. A site that far back needs its copy and structure worked on before its titles are worth polishing. That work is under way; the before and after is one of our case studies.

What we do on these sites every week

A worker proposes fixes every weekday morning and waits for approval before anything goes live. An auditor recrawls every page on Friday and files anything that is not actually live on the site. A scorekeeper on the first of the month measures each change 28 days after it went in.

The split behind all of it is simple. Titles and descriptions move clicks. Copy and structure move position, and articles answer the questions people type.

So the beverage brand's small click dip is a titles and descriptions job. The dealer's position is a copy and structure job. The charter mostly needs the season to turn, and the same weekly routine while it does.

Run the same check on your site in five minutes

Open Search Console and the Performance report, set the last 28 days against the previous period, and write down which way clicks, impressions, and position each moved. Google notes the newest days can be preliminary and still filling in, so leave the current week out of your judgment.

Then read your three numbers against what you just saw:

  • Impressions up, clicks flat or down: you are shown more and chosen less. Look at your titles and descriptions first.
  • Everything down, and your business has a season: compare the same month last year before deciding anything is wrong.
  • Clicks steady while the position number grows: check whether new queries appeared far back in the results before treating it as a slide.

One check, three numbers, once a month. That is most of what Search Console is for in a small business.

Pull up your own report tonight and write down which way the three numbers moved. If you would rather someone else read them, there is the free audit, or you can book a call.
